Maptek's Vulcan™ software provides advanced 3D spatial information, modelling, visualisation and analysis in fields ranging from mining to defence, environmental management and urban planning. More than 1400 licences of Vulcan are installed around the world in the mining industry alone.

Linking Vulcan's capability to model large volume spatial data to input from laser imaging devices led to the development of Maptek I-Site™ 3D Laser Imaging. Using laser scanners, detailed, accurate 3D data of a scene can be collected in minutes. The spatial location of features and surfaces, as well as true colour can be easily recorded. Laser scanning can be used in the mining, engineering, surveying, defence and entertainment industries to create 3D models for a wide variety of spatial and volumetric analysis tasks.

Maptek IT was established in 1998 to provide managed information technology and consulting services.

Maptek's acquisition of ASI in 2001 was part of the strategy to expand the product base. This brought MineSuite™, an integrated production and performance reporting system, and the ASI Automation business into the Maptek Group. Maptek MineSuite delivers mine production monitoring software and hardware systems for all types of mining operations and processing plants.
